The vacant barn window on the abandoned Whitmarsh Place near Echo Lake looks like it's been through hell, and maybe it has, given the harsh winters of upstate New York. But here it is today, still looking out on the barnyard, the country road, the passing tractors, pick-ups, school busses, and critters from foxes to deer to newts. Pretty much what it's been looking at forever. After all this time there's not much it hasn't already witnessed and not much Mother Nature can do to hurt it any more.
