You'll receive an beautifully printed "whole cloth" sheet, a faithful reproduction on cotton-sateen fabric of an original oil painting, "The Irish Quilt," painted for this purpose by Barrie Maguire. You’ll need to select a complimentary backing fabric and batting for your quilt. A high loft batting is thicker and fluffier, usually polyester, while low loft batting is thinner and better shows off the quilting stitches. After you’ve secured batting and backing material for your quilt, the fun begins! Shown at the top is one treatment, done by Pennsylvania long-arm quilter Barbara Persing, who selected a thin batting, and a dark green floral backing fabric that matched the color of the wooded areas of the quilt. Then she stitched the hedgerows and woods with a decorative stipple technique (below). Another option for a puffy, playful quilt is to use a high loft batting and sew a single line of stitching up and down each of the hedgerows, outlining all the fields. Another single edge of stitching about 2” from the edge creates a pleasing border. See example shown here. However you decide to do it, fancy or simple, you’ll have an Irish Quilt your family will cherish for decades. Your finished quilt will be approx 33” x 44” Your quilt will fade if washed, so dry clean only. This is a limited edition offering - only 60 quilt kits will be sold. The Irish Quilt Kit costs $79 (plus $10 for shipping and handling). Satisfaction guaranteed... if you are disappointed with your Irish Quilt Kit for any reason you can send it back for a full refund. |
