| The Burren, a moon-scape of limestone rock, covers vast tracts of hills and valleys in West Clare. I left our cottage in Fanore at dawn and drove south down the Coast Road a few miles and came upon this scene. It had rained all night but the rain had now stopped and the cracked table of rock between the road and the cliff was glazed with water reflecting the lightening sky. Barely visible across the water was Inis Oirr, the smallest of the Aran Islands. |
