18" x 24" - oil on canvas - $1850 |
On the north shore of the Dingle peninsula at the end of a narrow road sits the little cove, sheltered between towering cliff walls, from which St. Brendan sailed on his 6th century voyage of discovery to, among other places (dare we say it?), North America. This old winch sits on the quay, rusted but by the look of the cable, still occasionally used to haul boats up the concrete ramp. At the top of the winding drive down to the quay you'll pass a beautiful monument to Brendan, Patron Saint of Mariners. |
