| Dr Jim Morris, a great friend, commissioned me to paint this image of the mother of his wife (who happens to be named Patricia Maguire). "Granny" Maguire was born in Ireland. The painting was based on an old photo of Granny when she traveled to Ireland and went to her old home. She must have arrived while the gardener was in the process of trimming the hedge... his clippers were sitting on the ground when the photo was taken. Following Jim's directions Karen and I tracked down the cottage of her birth near the entrance to the grand old Glenveigh Estate, now a National Park. |
