Seamus passed away in Sept of 2013. A great artist and a great person. I'll always cherish my one conversation with him when he came to Villanova University. (read more...) Because I always include text in my Irish Writers Paintings, I decided to find a quote somewhere in Seamus Heaney's"Open Ground" Selected Poems. I found so many candidates to include in the painting that I just couldn't bear to have only one, so I decided to use individual lines that really spoke to me. I had enough room for eight of them.
